I would like to requst a feature - allow different wallpapers on isolated desktops. Would that be a lot of work ? If so, can we choose the color of the isolated desktop?

You mean you want customizable wallpaper so you could set any picture you want independently from main desktop?
We'll add this to our TODO list, but our priority list is: security, usability and then bells and whistles. And this feature falls mostly into 3rd category.
