Title: Lock screen at boot time
Post by: Mr.X on June 04, 2016, 08:09:20 PM
After installing ReHIPS I found these lockscreen and welcome screen showing up on every cold start or restart:

Is this normal?

No it's not normal and never had it because of rehips installation. Try this. Maybe somehow it got reset. Works not only on win 10.

Ok this is a workaround. But why it happened in the first place, I wonder.

Default windows install doesn't skip lock screen so i assume you changed it at some point with the trick i linked above. No clue why it reset for you but it shouldn't be rehips. I also do the same as you and never had it reset.
Glad that at least it was an easy fix.

Iirc and afaik default windows install has never put a lock screen on my customers machines (note that I always leave an admin. account without a sua) so I've never used that trick before.
ReHIPS had something to do obviously.

No clue. For me there is always a lock screen on every install i did. No clue why it's different for you.
Maybe someone else is in the same boat as you will give some info.

Do you mean the windows screen with user choosing? That's awkward, ReHIPS shouldn't mess with it. Does it happen on any other machine? What's the OS version? We'll try to reproduce this issue.

Both lock and welcome screens, please check out the video. Can't have any other machine at my disposal for the moment. You can see my OS version and edition under my avatar:
Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise edition.

Btw mate our difference is that i always use the pro version. Don't have access to the enterprise version so maybe that's why you don't have a lock screen and i do. ;)

I have installed Single Language, Single Language with Bing, Core and Pro editions on legit machines with their respective legit OEM:DM embedded keys and I've never seen that lock or welcome screen get stuck at boot or restart time after Windows install, of course unless I send PC to sleep or change user or anything normal that triggers such kind of screens.

I've seen the video, just wanted to make sure as this is quite strange, ReHIPS shouldn't mess with anything like this.

I meant full OS version like 10.0.10240. Do you have the latest updates installed?

We'll try to reproduce this issue. The only possible reason I can think of now is presence of new ReHIPS users, but they shouldn't affect in any way as they're not in users group and not listed on the lock screen. If you have some spare time or willing to play with it a little, you can try to delete all isolated environments (it'll delete ReHIPS users) and try to reboot to see if it persists. If it does, try to completely uninstall ReHIPS.

i used Win8 home, win8.1 home and win10 home; when installed them , i always had the lock screen then the welcome user choice screen; however i always set a password or use a microsoft account during install.

i have no idea for enterprise version.

BuildExLab: 9600.17415.amd64fre.winblue_r4.141028-1500
No. I don't have latest updates it's an untouched Windows 8.1 with Update 3 (3rd iteration/release)

Looks like it only happens on Win8. Win7 and Win10 are fine. But I've got some ideas how to fix it.
