As an AntiSpy feature besides webcamera ReHIPS allows you to disable microphone to prevent audio spying. And you probably noticed that it disables your sound card completely, including audio output. Why on earth is it done this way? There were several articles about possible audio spying via headphones. Yup, you heard me right, spying via headphones. One of these articles is here https://www.wired.com/2016/11/great-now-even-headphones-can-spy/ In two words: audio output (which headphones are usually connected to) can be reprogrammed into audio input and it turns out headphones are pretty good at recording sound. This article was published by Ben Gurion University and I highly recommend to google for them and their other articles as they really have maybe not very practical, but definitely creative, innovative and original approaches. Anyway we decided not to take any chances, like if you do it, do it right, so we decided to disable sound card completely.
